  1. #1 Best College Campuses in New YorkColumbia UniversityNew York, NY·4 Year·Rating 3.82 out of 5 1,365 reviewsAlum: As a biochemistry student at Columbia University, my experience was extraordinary. The Core Curriculum was a highlight, exposing me to literature, philosophy, art history, and music. This interdisciplinary approach enriched my understanding and fostered critical thinking and analytical writing skills.Beyond academics, I loved engaging with the community through Peer Health Exchange (now S-HEAL), where I educated high school students on health and wellness. This experience enhanced my communication skills and deepened my commitment to public health.Writing for The Spectator allowed me to make scientific concepts accessible, improving my ability to articulate ideas clearly. Additionally, Columbia’s vibrant arts scene, from Miller Theatre performances to Wallach Art Gallery exhibitions, provided a rich cultural balance to my studies.Overall, Columbia offered a holistic education, blending rigorous science, arts, and community involvement, preparing me well for the future.... 6. #3 Best College Campuses in New JerseyMontclair State UniversityMontclair, NJ·4 Year·Rating 3.58 out of 5 3,186 reviewsSophom*ore: Attending Montclair State University has been a dynamic and enriching experience. The wide range of majors, minors, and concentrations, combined with experienced and dedicated faculty, makes for a strong academic environment. I’ve enjoyed the numerous student organizations and the variety of events and activities that keep campus life vibrant. One of the highlights is the university's proximity to New York City, which offers fantastic opportunities for internships and cultural experiences. The campus itself is beautiful, with a good mix of modern and historic buildings, and the facilities are top-notch. However, there are some downsides, like the limited parking, slow administrative processes, and large class sizes in popular programs. Despite these issues, the strong career services and academic support have been incredibly helpful. Professors are for the most part good to great, and are usually willing to help you out whenever you need it. Campus is nice and clean but campus life is practically non-existent, may have been frat/sorority life but you really had to seek it out if you wanted to. Clubs are alright. Some professors have solid connections but you have to really get to know them if you want to make the most of it. 10. #4 Best College Campuses in New JerseyRamapo College of New JerseyMahwah, NJ·4 Year·Rating 3.45 out of 5 1,047 reviewsSophom*ore: Ramapo College of New Jersey is smaller than your typical college campus. There are usually no big parties and student life is pretty quiet unless you are involved in the various clubs that are hosted here. Parking also gets packed in the commuter lots, however the farthest parking lot to the main building is only a 10 minute walk. Something to add here that I tell a lot of new students is that public safety tends to be strict with their parking permits and policies, so make sure you have a guest pass or a permit! Although it is a small campus, you are provided with beautiful scenery and incredibly convenient placement. If you take a 7 minute drive down the highway, there are supermarkets, restaurants, and clothing stores for your college needs. The urban campus, deeply embedded in NYC, offers unique connections to the city's core communities, enhancing academic and professional experiences. NYU's lively and diverse student communities, such as the LGBTQ+ Center and the Center for Multicultural Education and Programs, have been influential, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Academically, NYU excels in providing rich research opportunities, including the Dean's Undergraduate Research Fund (DURF) and the Undergraduate Research Conference. However, one area for improvement is financial support for housing and living expenses. When I was first welcomed into Sacred Heart by attending their orientation, I was welcomed into a beautiful yet peaceful and friendly atmosphere with people that would support and help me throughout my time in college. Orientation leaders helped guide me through the school campus to see what the overall class experience and structure would be like, and also taught me many different curriculums that I could apply for when choosing my major for college. In addition, when I first attended my first year of college, all my professors were very kind, supportive, and caring for me and their students, and always do their best to encourage students to succeed in class during both semesters of my freshman year. The students there are also very kind and friendly too, and I've got to meet a lot of new friends, especially in the Sacred Heart University Band, which I joined back in August 2023. Professors are good, I've enjoyed most of mine, even if I haven't had the greatest experience with all, and heard horror stories about others, check ratemyprofessor! Dorms can be iffy, if you end up in Founders, gl, communal bathrooms, flooding, and co*ckroaches await. If you end up in Hudson, the worst you'll have to deal with is broken elevators and fights with your roommates(dont expect help from mercy, this goes for p much everything). As for food, go grocery shopping at all costs! Unless you're okay with undercooked or nastiness daily. There's a fast food place at Vic Hall, but you're gonna be eating that for a year. And be prepared to walk, you cant have a car, and most doors that would allow easy shortcuts to save time are locked so prepare to take the long route. Other than that, have fun ;)... 25. Rutgers University–New BrunswickPiscataway, NJ·4 Year·Rating 3.65 out of 5 6,136 reviewsAlum: During my years at Rutgers, I seized numerous chances at leadership and teaching thanks to the university's commitment to equal access. I spent time as Resident Life and volunteered at a local hospital, gaining experience beyond the classroom. The university's size may seem daunting, but its bus system makes navigating campus a breeze. Each campus has its own unique atmosphere, from the bustling city-esque College Avenue to the serene Douglass campus, complete with botanical gardens and farms. As someone from New York City, the "Knight Mover" service was one of my favorites; this service, available from 3am to 6am, ensured safe transportation for students–with no questions asked. My biggest regret was that not many students took advantage of this opportunity, whether it was because they simply didn’t know about it or because they didn’t like the small white pickup van. This can definitely be optimized: more vans, more awareness, and maybe students can volunteer to paint the vans!... 26. Monroe College - Bronx/New RochelleBronx, NY·4 Year·Rating 3.87 out of 5 828 reviewsSophom*ore: My experience at Monroe College has been incredible. I’ve had the privilege of learning from some outstanding professors, although not all of them were exceptional, which is to be expected. As a former Monroe College softball player, I’ve enjoyed fantastic opportunities within the softball community and have built strong connections with my teammates. The school’s environment is quite diverse, with a significant Hispanic presence at the Bronx campus. Additionally, being a student at Monroe College has provided me with numerous internship opportunities in various fields, helping us grow and work towards our dream jobs upon graduation.... 27. Seton Hall UniversitySouth Orange, NJ·4 Year·Rating 3.74 out of 5 2,189 reviewsSenior: I have enjoyed my time here at Seton Hall very much! I am a part of the Education program, as well as an on-campus resident for four years. The program I am in has furthered my interest in the field greatly and has allowed me to expand my knowledge about the topic. SHU has allowed me to student teach 3 out of the 4 years I have been here, which has allowed me to gain hands-on and first-hand experience in a classroom. I also enjoy living on campus, as I feel connected to my campus community. With 150 clubs and organizations on campus, there are many great ways to get involved and meet new people! NYC is also a very close train ride away, so it is always fun to go to the city with my friends. It also allows for fun guest lecturers like Billie Jean King and Alex Rodriguez! I have loved my time here at Seton Hall and am glad I can call it my home....
